The “Itis”

I like to see the shadows of the trees dancing underneath the street lights.

It cures my loneliness.

Makes me feel seen

After all the shadow work.

I like to feel the wind

Hover over my shoulder

As I type this poem,

As I’m staring at the moon

It gives me comfort.

But there’s no better company than yours

That hovers over the candle

To keep yourself warm

Because you’re without a shirt

In your boxers

Just as I like you.

You’re staring off into the distance

But when I look away,

I can feel your eyes on me.
