Change

“A little change ain’t never hurt nobody.”

My mama always used to say, “A little change ain’t never hurt nobody.”

I’m lying; that wasn’t one of her sayings. I think I heard it in a movie once.

But a little change ain’t never hurt nobody.

To the mother of three that just lost her job- I know the bills are still rolling in.

I watched you count your last few dollars before you left the premises– and I heard you mumble….

“A little change ain’t never hurt nobody.”

———–end

(Sometimes change does hurt; but it’s only temporary.)

  1. This piece had me shook because that is a common saying; however, the way you used it as a double meaning ( at least to my interpretation ) hit home with me and where I come from. I get the feeling that the mom is about to make a decision for “some change” that is also “a change” from the norm ( or at least her normal ). This was short, sweet and made me take a moment to pause and think. Keep up the great work, it doesn’t go unnoticed #Trust&Believe
